The X5 is the step up from our 50cc gas minis. It is quiet, there is no gas to mix, and it has enough power for teens and full grown adults. Three gears let you start a new rider slow and open it up once they are comfortable.
Who the X5 is for
Straight answer, because this is the question we get texted most. The X5 fits a rider roughly 4 ft to 5 ft 11 in and up to 265 lbs. Inside that range it is the better buy of our two electrics, because you are paying $375 less for a bike that does almost everything the bigger one does.
Where the X5 is the right call:
- Flat and open ground. A field, a dirt lot, a track, desert two track. 146 N.m of torque is plenty when you are not fighting a hill from a standstill.
- A first electric. First gear tops out around 15 mph, so you can lock a learner in gear one and leave it there for a month.
- A teen who has outgrown a 50cc or a 60cc. This is the natural next bike, and there is nothing new to learn mechanically because there is no clutch and no shifting under load.
- Riding where noise is a problem. An electric is the difference between riding behind the house and getting a knock on the door.
Where you want the X7 instead: a rider over 265 lbs, taller than 5 ft 11 in, or ground with real hills and deep sand where you are often starting from stopped on a slope. We laid both out side by side in Sykeruns X5 vs X7.

About that 53 mile range
That is the factory number, measured at low speed on flat ground. An independent review put real off road riding at 20 to 25 miles. Plan around the lower number and you will never be pushing a 126 lb bike home. We go through all of it in our Sykeruns X5 review.
What actually changes your range, in order: how hard you pull the throttle, rider weight, how loose the ground is, and how many times you stop and start. Flat hard pack in gear two will get you close to the top of that range. Hill climbs in gear three will halve it.
What shows up, and what you do
The X5 ships sealed in the factory crate, exactly as it reaches us. We never open it. The factory has the bike about 90% assembled, so what is left for you is the handlebars, the front wheel and a few bolts, plus a first full charge before the first ride. Tools are in the box. Most families have the assembly together in 20 to 30 minutes, and from there you are just waiting on the battery.

Questions people ask before ordering
Is the Sykerun X5 the same as the Sykeruns X5? Yes. The maker spells it SYKERUNS. Plenty of searches and listings drop the s. Same bike, same specs, same frame.
How fast will it actually go? 50 mph in gear three with a light rider on flat ground. Gear one caps at about 15 mph, which is where a new rider should start. The gear selector is how you control speed on an electric, in place of the governor screw on a gas bike.
Will it fit the rider? About 4 ft to 5 ft 11 in, and up to 265 lbs. Size by whether they can get the balls of both feet down at a stop. Over 265 lbs or taller than 5 ft 11 in, go to the X7.
How long does a charge take, and can I charge it anywhere? 5 to 6 hours on a normal household outlet with the charger that comes in the box. There is nothing special to install.
Is it good for a young kid? No. First gear still does about 15 mph, which is a lot for a six year old on day one. For a young kid our 50cc gas minis are $300 with a governor screw a parent can turn right down, and the 60cc is $380 for a bigger kid.
Gas or electric, which should I get? Electric if nobody wants to mix fuel and noise matters. Gas if you want all day ride time and the lowest price. The honest version is in gas vs electric.
Where are we allowed to ride it? Private property, tracks, OHV parks and designated routes on public land. Never streets or sidewalks. Here is the 50 state guide, and here is how to find legal trails near you.
What maintenance does it need? No fuel mixing, no air filter, no spark plug, no carburetor. It is tire pressure, chain tension, brakes and looking after the battery. That is the whole list.
What gear does the rider need? Helmet, goggles, gloves, boots over the ankle, long sleeves and long pants, every ride. At 50 mph that is not optional. The full list is here.

- Off road use only. This is not street legal. It does not come with a title, a VIN or registration paperwork, and it cannot be made street legal. Private property, dirt lots, desert and tracks only. Not streets, not sidewalks, not bike paths, not public roads.
- Not a toy. This is a full size electric motorcycle built for teens and adults. An adult must supervise every ride, and an adult should do the final assembly and the pre ride checks.
- Gear every single ride. Helmet, gloves, goggles, long sleeves, long pants and closed shoes. No exceptions, no "just around the yard" ride.
- Rider limits. Built for teens and adults. Max rider weight 265 lbs, and it fits riders from about 4 ft to 5 ft 11 in. Not suitable for small children.
- It arrives crated, and you finish it. The bike comes to you sealed in its factory crate exactly as it reaches us, about 90 percent assembled at the factory. We never open it. You fit the front wheel and the handlebars, tighten a few bolts and add the fluids. The tools are in the box. Go over every fastener, the brakes and the throttle before the first ride. - Riding carries real risk. Any powered two wheeler can cause injury. You and your rider ride at your own risk, and you are responsible for supervision, gear, maintenance and choosing a safe place to ride.
- Check your local rules. Where an off highway vehicle may be ridden, and whether it needs an OHV decal, varies by city, county and state. That part is on you to check before you ride. We keep a 50 state guide to where you can legally ride.
- Who we are. Plugged by 50CC is an independent retailer. We did not manufacture this bike, and we do not assemble, tune, prep, service or modify it. We buy them new from the factory and pass the sealed crate straight on to you, about 90 percent assembled by the factory, with the last of the assembly and setup done by you. If a part comes through defective we take the claim to the factory on your behalf and get the correct part sent out free.
- All sales are final, and opening the crate ends it completely. No returns and no exchanges once a bike has shipped, and none at all once the crate has been opened and the bike assembled. An assembled bike cannot be sold as new and it does not go back in the crate. Before you cut the straps, check the model, the colour and the size are what you ordered. If anything arrives damaged or a part is defective, leave it in the crate, send us a short video and we will get it solved. Full terms in our refund policy.
