Why Parents Choose Our 50cc Dirt Bikes Over Other Options

Why Parents Choose Our 50cc Dirt Bikes Over Other Options

Short answer. Families pick our 50cc over a $2,000 name brand for three reasons: it is $300, it has the parts that matter on a first bike (adjustable speed limiter, disc brakes front and rear, inverted forks, adjustable rear shock), and if the kid loses interest after two weekends you are out $300 instead of two thousand.

That is the whole case. The detail is below.

The specs, plainly

Spec Our 50cc gas bike
Price $300
Top speed 32 mph, fully open
Rider age range About 5 to 13
Seat height About 24 in
Max rider weight 170 lb
Transmission Automatic, no clutch, no gears
Brakes Disc front and rear
Suspension Inverted forks, adjustable rear shock
Frame Steel
Speed control Adjustable limiter screw on the carburetor

Why $300 instead of $2,000

A name brand 50cc from a major manufacturer runs $1,500 to $2,500. That is a lot of money to spend before you know whether your kid actually likes riding.

Plenty of kids love the idea and then decide after three sessions that they would rather be on a scooter. At $300 that is a cheap answer to an expensive question. If they do take to it, you saved over a thousand dollars and you still have a bike with disc brakes at both ends and suspension that works.

It is built around a beginner, not a small racer

The limiter screw. There is a screw on the carburetor that caps how far the throttle can open. Set it low and the bike physically cannot go fast, no matter how hard your kid twists. Back it out a quarter turn at a time as their control improves. That one screw is what lets a single bike work for a five year old and then for the same kid at eleven. We wrote up exactly where it is and how to turn it in our guide to the 50cc dirt bike speed limiter.

No clutch, no gears. It is automatic. Twist to go, squeeze to stop. A beginner has enough to think about with balance and braking without a clutch lever in the mix.

Seat height about 24 inches. Most kids from around five can get the balls of both feet down. That is most of what confidence is made of on day one. If you are not sure your rider fits, read what size dirt bike a 6, 8 or 10 year old needs before you order.

Light enough to pick up. When it tips over, and it will, most kids can right it themselves. Sounds small. It is not.

Brand new, factory sealed

Every bike is new in its original sealed crate, about 90% assembled on the factory line. Not refurbished, not a floor model, not a return, not something that was ridden and cleaned up. It reaches us sealed and it leaves us sealed.

Plugged by 50CC is an independent retailer. We do not open crates, assemble, tune or modify anything. The factory did the 90%, not us.

Free shipping, 2 to 5 business days

Shipping is free to all 50 states. Orders ship same day and typically arrive in 2 to 5 business days, with tracking on every order. No fuel surcharge, no handling fee, no crate fee at checkout. The $300 you see is the $300 you pay.

Local to Phoenix or Tempe, text 623 320 8984 first and you can pick it up instead.

You finish the assembly, and that is quicker than people expect

Be clear on this before you order, because some sellers are vague about it.

The bike arrives sealed in the factory crate exactly as it reaches us, about 90% assembled from the factory. You finish the front wheel, the handlebars, a few bolts and the fluids. The tools are in the box.

Most families have it together in 20 to 30 minutes. Some do it in 10. Every step is written out with photos at manual.pluggedby50cc.com, and you can text us a photo if something does not look right.

The upside is real. You know every fastener on that bike is tight, because you are the one who checked it.

Running cost is low

It is a two stroke, so there is no engine oil to change. You mix the oil into the gas at 25 to 1, which is 5.12 oz of two stroke oil per gallon. A bottle of two stroke oil lasts most families a season. Our 25 to 1 fuel mix chart has the numbers for every container size.

Past that it is chain lube, a spare spark plug and an air filter. Parts for these bikes are cheap and easy to find.

If you would rather go electric

The gas 50cc is the cheapest way in, but it is not the only option. The Sykerun X5 is $975, 3000W on 48V, 50 mph, 53 mile range, fits roughly 4 ft to 5 ft 11 with a 265 lb limit. The Sykerun X7 is $1,350, 5500W on 60V, 56 mph, 60 mile range, fits roughly 4 ft 8 to 6 ft 3 with a 330 lb limit.

No fuel to mix, no pull start, much quieter. They are bigger and faster machines, so they suit an older or taller rider. If you are torn, read gas vs electric dirt bikes for kids.

Gear is not optional

Helmet, goggles, gloves and over the ankle boots, every ride, every time. Budget for it before you budget for the bike. These are off road machines, not street legal, with no title and no plate. Our guide to what safety gear a kid needs lists what to buy first, and the bike with helmet bundle is $350 total.

Common questions

Is a $300 dirt bike any good?

For a first bike, yes. You get a steel frame, disc brakes front and rear, inverted forks and an adjustable rear shock. What you do not get is a name on the tank and a dealer network. For a kid who is learning to balance and brake, the name on the tank changes nothing.

What happens if a part breaks?

For the first year we take the claim to the factory on your behalf and get the replacement sent free. Send us a photo or a short video and we start it from there. We are the retailer taking that to the factory for you, not a warranty company.

Do I need a license or a plate?

No. These are off road only. No title, no plate, no registration as a street vehicle. Where you can ride is the thing to check, not the paperwork on the bike.

How long will my kid fit it?

Most kids ride a 50cc for a few years, roughly ages 5 to 13 depending on height, up to a 170 lb rider. Gas minis resell easily when the time comes, since there is no battery to degrade and parts are everywhere.

Can I pick one up instead of shipping?

Yes, in Tempe AZ. Text 623 320 8984 first so we know you are coming.

The bottom line

You do not need to spend $2,000 to give a kid a good first dirt bike. You need a limiter, brakes that work, suspension at both ends and a frame that survives being dropped. That is what $300 buys here.
